Design and deployment in 4 Sub-Saharan African countries of an alternative retail banking model

Context

By 2020, sub-Saharan Africa is set to be the fastest-growing region in the world for the banking industry. In retail banking, this growth is driven by the continent's demographics and the development of the middle classes, which are currently under-banked. This potential must be set against a competitive environment in which a large number of banks coexist and several non-bank players from the mobile telephony and money transfer sectors are positioning themselves.

Unlike its international banking competitors, our customer has made the African continent a priority, with high profitability targets.

Objective

Define an alternative banking model (agency banking) in Sub-Saharan Africa, to defend the bank's current flows (corporate and retail) and win over new retail customers.

VERTONE contribution
